Torquay

The suggested date for the erection of this box by Saxby & Farmer is c1876, but this seems unlikely as it is actually of the type constructed by that company in between 1868 and 1874. The box was built with a base of local stone, and would originally have been provided with small "toplight" windows in the panelled area above the main set.

The South Devon concern became part of the Great Western Railway in 1876.
