A general view of the junction and signalbox on the outskirts of Bombay. To the right, the Great Indian Peninsula Railway electrified line continues towards Victoria terminus in Bombay, whilst the line to the left runs to Bombay Docks. Just visible, looking this way, is the Bombay Harbour Commissioner's box at Vadala Junction.

Tucked away in a corner of Ravali Junction box is a very interesting instrument controlling the short section to Vadala Junction on the Bombay Harbour Railway.

This could easily be mistaken for the once common London & North Western Railway standard instrument, but it is in fact a locally manufactured design clearly modelled on that type.
