YeovilAt Yeovil Pen Mill and Yeovil Junction battery operated signal lamps, which supposedly last six months, are being installed in all signals after trials carried out here. They run on just 4 volts. The lamps are manufactured in original style by Signal House Ltd. of Leighton Buzzard. This was widely mis-reported in the press as the first electric lamps in semaphore signals! |

WorksopWorksop – a new box assumed control of entire Worksop area, replacing Shireoaks Station, Shireoaks Junction and Worksop West. Worksop East was retained in the short-term as a gate box. |

Brewery SidingsMarmalade the cat transferred from Brewery Sidings to Diggle Junction in connection with his being made redundant under the Manchester North resignalling. |

Newcastle CentralNewcastle Central panel, dating from c1959 and disused since 1991, was donated to the Robert Stephenson Trust, and has been dismantled to become part of a working museum display at 20 South Street, Newcastle. |

Settle & Carlisle lineGeneral upgrading and repairs to Settle & Carlisle line completed. Former LMS three-aspect distant signals with auxiliary yellow aspects (probably the last in the country) renewed as conventional two-aspect signals, and AWS provided. |
