Signalling alterations: 2015

East Midlands Resignalling.Construction of the new East Midlands Signalling Centre has begun at Derby, on the former St Andrews goods yard. Stage 1 has seen the abolition of the Midland Railway boxes at Pinxton and Sleights Sidings East and transfer of control of part of the Erewash valley from Trent PSB. Both boxes closed on 9th June 2007 – happily both have been preserved. Stage 2A commenced on 9th October 2009 with resignalling from Trowell junction through to Trent Junction – this rsulted in the closure of Stapleford & Sandiacre Shunting Frame. Stage 2B will be completed over Christmas with the abloition of Lock Lane Crossing Frame. Subsequent stages will result in the closure of the PSBs at Trent, Leicester, West Hampstead and Derby and abolition of all mechanical boxes on the Syston – Peterborough, Derby – Stoke-on-Trent, Nottingham – Newark and Nottingham – Grantham lines. |
