Something very strange… I’ll post it here although I wonder if it should be a new topic… at the time of reading, the latest reply is shown as being on 5th June at 4.17pm by StevieG, but the last post I can see is by our host at 2.12am same day. Is this because Steve removed his post? Or has it been diverted down the Golden Mile at Willesden Carriage Shed?
June 6, 2020 at 9:17 am #164564The SignalmanKeymasterYes, it should be in a separate topic really (have split it off now).
The latest post is by “Dalmeny” – does that show correctly now?

June 7, 2020 at 8:53 am #164635kbarberParticipantAfraid not John, your #164564 at 9.17am asking about it is the only post I can see after my report.
June 7, 2020 at 11:18 am #164672The SignalmanKeymasterI am confused. Are you talking about the discussion on LNER Firemans Call Plungers?
I can see five separate posts there – are you saying you can only see two? Perhaps it would be wise, as a first step, to clear your browser cache in case there is something stuck in the pipeline.
If somebody else could comment on what they see in this thread, it would be useful. I really can’t see why I can see it whilst others cannot but stranger things have been known to happen.

June 7, 2020 at 12:19 pm #164680Mike HodgsonParticipantHope this helps. I can also see 5 posts on the FCP thread and it is headed “This topic has 4 replies and 4 voices” (presumably counted as the OP plus 4 replies, with voices meaning different people posting).
All very well but something odd is going on with the counting as THIS thread is headed 4 replies and two voices – but I can only see the OP and 3 further posts (you & kbarber posting twice each).
The thread “Why are so many pages missing” is headed 5 replies, 5 voices, but I can see 6 posts but only 4 people posting (yourself 3 times plus 3 others).
Maybe counts are getting screwed up when you move posts between threads?
June 7, 2020 at 12:45 pm #164682The SignalmanKeymaster“Maybe counts are getting screwed up when you move posts between threads?”
Yes, that is correct. I have seen that before. I think it is fixable but it isn’t the immediate priority.
Thanks for the visibility confimration.

June 7, 2020 at 1:49 pm #164690Mike HodgsonParticipantYeah, no problem here Stevie
June 7, 2020 at 2:30 pm #164692The SignalmanKeymasterTake it gently chaps. SteveiG was, I suspect, wondering why a post he made wasn’t visible. It had sidelined itself for my attention as the format suggested to a computer (that is too dumb to know him better) that it could be a spam posting. It wasn’t of course, and I subsequently released it into the wild world.
This is only the second time this has happened, it is a small price to pay for the internet robots out there clamouring to get in.

June 7, 2020 at 2:43 pm #164694StevieGParticipantOkay John thanks. You’ll doubtless appreciate that us ‘clients’ are also unsure about how some detailed nuances of how we should expect the new site’s features to behave.
As ever, we can’t know how much time and trouble you, and other helpers, have devoted to bringing about the regeneration of signalbox.org. No amount of thanks will be enough, and there will probably have been times of unexpected and unwanted stress, to which I have no wish to knowingly add.

I’m still learning too!
I have now installed an extra feature that emails me when any messages are “on hold” which should help me spot them quicker.
Best regards,
John
June 8, 2020 at 8:09 am #164718kbarberParticipantThanks John, I really should have thought of clearing the cache. I think it was the FCP conversation I was referring to, but I don’t remember any longer (they say it’s the short-term memory goes first…)
However, I find that the link to the Methley Junction diagram in your response to Joe leads nowhere (it’s accessible through the diagrams page though).
I’m beginning to think I’m going to have a reputation as a vandal or troublemaker!
June 8, 2020 at 8:34 am #164721The SignalmanKeymasterHi Keith,
Clearing the cache is always worth a try at times like that but it shouldn’t normally be necessary, perhaps a 2-2-3 had snuck into the section!
There is no link in my post – but both Joe’s links had a formatting error which were probably not of his making. I have corrected them now and they should both work fine.
Best regards,
John

June 9, 2020 at 9:29 pm #164809Martin ShawParticipantHi John
There have been I think three replies to posts of mine today and I can’t see any of them. I have cleared the cache but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference. No idea otherwise but a heads up.
Regards
Martin
