“When a train has more than one engine in front or is assisted by an engine or engines in rear or when two or more engines are coupled together and such train or engines have to carry the train staff, each engine except the rearmost one must carry a ticket and the rearmost engine the train staff.”
When did this cease to apply? Did it matter? Should the North Thames do it?

Each engine? How does the signalman know how many tickets to write out before the train arrives? Especially if the telephone has failed. Or in the case of NNT, has gone unanswered.

Surely that rule could no longer apply once both engines were being driven by one bloke on the front one ?
I don’t think North Thames need worry about it!
